Our Wallingford Remodeling Contractor Team

About Mark

Wallingford remodeling contractor Mark Benson,  owner of Bencar Building Systems, was born and raised in the California Bay Area and has been in this profession 44 years. He started in the construction business with his Uncle who inspired him and this is where his passion grew to enter construction.

After moving to Connecticut in 1995, he realized quickly that his experience in California would be beneficial to homeowners here. He went ahead and obtained his Connecticut remodeler's license and re-established what he started in California here in Connecticut. He likes building and creating things with his hands and watching projects come together.

He takes pride in being sure the job is completed in a reasonable time frame and stands behind the quality of work that his employees perform. Mark possesses strong management skills to be sure the job continues to progress and all moving components stay on task. The part of the job that he truly enjoys is making a client's remodeling dream a reality.

Outside of work Mark enjoys taking rides on his motorcycle, spending time with his wife, son and his dog Wally. He also loves to put his feet up and relax and fish at his cottage on the lake.

About Nancy

She has been the Office Manager for her husband's business, Bencar Building Systems, for the past 15 years. She is the backbone of the company and is always on top of the details.

She is responsible for creating proposals, having contracts signed, maintaining schedules and making sure materials are ordered to ensure jobs stay on task. This job allows her to work closely with her husband and gives her the avenue to continue to meet new people. Nancy enjoys showing their clients that their opinions matter and that Bencar Building Systems wants the job to run smoothly and for the client to be happy with their end result.

Her strength of paying attention to details is very important in this position. It makes her happy to watch a job from start to finish and see the satisfaction in the client's face as their remodeling dream becomes a reality.

Outside of work Nancy enjoys riding on the back of Mark's motorcycle, knitting, and reading at their cottage on the lake. She has also been a Big Sister to a boy for past seven years and truly enjoys his friendship and watching him grow into the young man she knows he can be. She is a big family person and enjoys relaxing at family gatherings with her sister, her twin and their families.

About Our Crew

about wallingford remodeling contractor Cody Benson, Mark and Nancy’s son Cody joined the Bencar team 2 years ago after graduating from Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in Business Management and he has been a great addition. He's worked for us in previous summers but he said he is enjoying working here full-time to learn how to do things and be able to do them himself. Cody enjoys the variety in the jobs, being involved in a project from start to finish, and seeing the client appreciates his work when the job is completed. Cody is happy to be working side by side with his Dad and is looking forward to being more involved in the family business both in the field and in the office. When Cody is not on the job he enjoys softball, bowling, skiing, watching UConn football and basketball games, and relaxing with family and friends. Cody’s eagerness to learn the trade and be part of his family’s business is a great asset to the team.

about wallingford remodeling contractor Craig Agro, Craig has worked for Bencar Building Systems as a subcontractor for the past five years, but in the Spring of 2014, joined our team as an employee. The part of the job that he enjoys is that every project is different and allows variety each day. Also, he is always happy when a job wraps up and he sees the satisfaction in the client’s face. Bencar feels he is a great asset to the team with his great attention to detail, his expert carpentry skills, and ability to communicate with people. On his free time he enjoys watching his twin boys play sports, skiing, mountain biking, and has a love for different foods. His professionalism and strong knowledge of his trade is definitely an asset to the Bencar team.

about wallingford remodeling contractor Evan Huber, Evan joined the Bencar Building System team in January of 2015 and has proven to be a positive addition. He enjoys being part of our team and is happy with his co-workers and working side by side with them. The part of the job he feels is most rewarding is making connections with the homeowners during the course of the project, and seeing their reaction to the final project when it’s completed. Evan’s expertise in trim work, taping and painting have shown to be a valuable asset to the Bencar team. Evan enjoys construction because he likes the different locations, new people and that each job is unique. He feels he could never see himself sitting behind a desk 9-5 every day. Outside of the job he loves playing softball, working out and hanging out with friends.
